A Profile Of Mohamed Alabbar

Mohamed Alabbar was born during January of 1963 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). This country is composed of seven emirates (principalities). It is located on the Arabian Peninsula’s southeastern section, along the Persian Gulf. In addition to Dubai, the other six emirates are Umm al-Quwain, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman, and Abu Dhabi.

Alabbar traveled to the United States for his undergraduate education. He attended the Albers School of Business and Economics at Seattle University. In 1981, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Business Administration. During 2007, the university granted him an honorary PhD (Doctoral Degree) in the humanities.

This distinguished leader is a member of Dubai’s Executive Council. He serves as the senior Aide to the Prime Minister and Vice President of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His other prominent roles include a tenure as Director General of the country’s Department of Economic Development, as well as the Chairman of one of the world’s most successful and largest real estate companies, Emaar Properties. As the umbrella organization for more than 60 companies, Emaar develops land, provides property management services, and invests in financial service providers. It also supports activities in the education, retail, hospitality, and health care sectors.

While serving at the Economic Development Department, this competent leader instituted progressive policies which strengthened business and trade in the country. His policies also initiated increased transparency and openness in the government.

He has an influential role as the Chairman of his country’s first independent credit information corporation, Emcredit. His broad employment background also includes serving as Vice Chairman of the Dubai Aluminum Company, and the Vice Chairman of the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Mohammed Alabbar has made many far-reaching contributions to the economic, social, and political development of his country, including the expansion of its international business sector. He is among the United Arab Emirate’s most prominent and influential citizens.
